FASHION DESIGN

Zee 23 Merphose is an experimental fashion and research practice. Rooted in curiosity and transformation, the name Merphose (pronounced in French) blends mer (sea) and phose (light), while echoing metamorphose—a nod to constant change and shifting forms.

Founded by Machteld Zee, an artist and researcher trained at Fabricademy—with additional coursework at Central Saint Martins—Zee 23 Merphose moves between disciplines, drawing on a background in visual art, textile design, photography, and storytelling. The 2024 project Neurocraft, exhibited in Amsterdam, explored the relationship between cognition, textiles, and digital fabrication.
